| Medical Malpractice Group - two for two in March, 2006 |
The Copeland, Cook, Taylor and Bush medical malpractice defense section, headed by Ray McNamara, had two trials in the month of March, and our clients prevailed in both. The first was an ob-gyn case which was tried before a Hinds County jury. The Plaintiff alleged that the doctor defended by Ray McNamara and Stephanie Edgar, was negligent in failing to properly diagnose and surgically correct a uterine anomaly. After the week-long trail, the Hinds County jury returned a 12-0 verdict in favor of our client.
In the second case, Ray McNamara and Michael Coleman were defending a hospital sued for medical negligence under the Mississippi Tort Claims Act based on the actions of one of its surgeons. The Plaintiff alleged that the surgeon failed to correctly handle the treatment and transfer of a thoracoabdominal aneurysm. At the close of the Plaintiff’s case, the Court granted the hospital’s motion for judgment as a matter of law.
