For many years, the Copeland, Cook, Taylor & Bush summer associate clerkship program has afforded law school students the ability to experience the “real world” of practicing law under the guidance of experienced Copeland, Cook, Taylor & Bush attorneys, while also providing the students with an opportunity to get to know the attorneys and staff at the firm.
Each summer associate is paired with a shareholder mentor, who supervises work assignments and endeavors to provide the student with a productive and rewarding experience with the firm. Specific assignments for summer associates are generally based on the associate’s area(s) of interest, and the firm strives to include the summer associate in a wide variety of professional activities within these areas of interest, such as legal research and writing assignments, document drafting, attending depositions, hearings, and trials, interviewing witnesses, meeting with clients and experts, attending transaction closings, and the like. A number of social events are scheduled throughout the summer to give summer associates the opportunity to interact with the firm’s attorneys in less formal settings.
