Established in 1985, Copeland, Cook, Taylor & Bush, P.A. was founded by four law-school friends. They opened the doors of CCTB with just eight attorneys specializing in insurance defense and oil and gas work. Their reasoning for founding the firm was simple. They felt that if they worked hard, with an eye for the bottom line, they could provide excellent legal services to their clients at a fair price, as well as provide a good workplace for their attorneys and staff. This reasoning would prove to be the formula for today’s continued client satisfaction, as well as the firm’s rapid growth.
To offer our clients a full service legal environment, a merger in 1994 added taxation, employee benefits, estate planning, and probate to the firm’s major practice areas. This merger, as well as the addition of other attorneys with extensive experience in business and commercial matters, has proved very effective for the firm’s clients. Several members of the firm now serve as general counsel for some of Mississippi’s largest companies.
In 2008, Biloxi based firm Bryant, Dukes & Blakeslee merged with CCTB. The firm saw the merger as an opportunity to join forces with the oldest and largest firm on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The move was a classic "win-win" situation for CCTB’s clients and attorneys. It allowed the firm to provide their clients with a broader scope of services and the efficiencies that result from multiple locations within the state. CCTB now has offices located in Ridgeland, Biloxi, Hattiesburg, and Washington D.C.
The firm has further expanded into other practice areas including healthcare law, offering comprehensive legal services to a wide range of healthcare clients throughout the country. CCTB continues to be one of Mississippi’s leading insurance defense firms, representing major insurance companies as well as the Mississippi Department of Insurance.
